Total Precision Cleanrooms Aust, 'A reputation built on quality workmanship'.
Jake Nolan, Managing Director of Total Precision Cleanrooms Aust. (TPC) has over 30 years’ experience working within the building and construction industry. Jake initially started out in 1987 as an on-site worker building a range of temperature-controlled rooms, food and beverage facilities, then later into managerial and sales roles within the company.
In 1993 Jake started his own business, FBJ Insulated Panel Systems Pty Ltd, with then-partner Frank, later joined by another partner, former employee Peter in 1996.
FBJ operated in the food and beverage industry. Much of the work, in the beginning, centered around the construction and maintenance of cool rooms, freezer rooms and process areas at the fish market, the Footscray market, and several market gardeners around Victoria. We later moved into the meat industry installing sandwich panel at abattoirs such as Hurstbridge abattoirs, Perfect pork, Castricum meats, Ralphs, and various meat processing facilities. Jake was Managing director of FBJ for 25 years until he sold the business recently to Peter in 2018.
Our TPC history began In 2000, when Jake and the other two partners, Frank and Peter started Klippa Pty Ltd T/as Total Precision Contracting (TPC). Total Precision Contracting was formed to allow us to work on commercial building sites for the larger building companies, where there was a strong union presence. We saw an opportunity in the pharmaceutical industry were at the time there weren’t a lot of options for builders to choose from other than companies such as Bondor or Austral (now Askin Performance Panels), who are panel manufacturers, and lacked the ability to provide contractors with suitable practical experience and quality workmanship.
Our intention was to separate the two business models and the markets they would operate in. FBJ would continue on within the food industry and work for non-EBA commercial sites. TPC, having an EBA would target tier 2 and 3 builders and companies within the pharmaceutical industry, pushing our brand as a quality-driven trade contractor, delivering consistent quality workmanship to everyone.
TPC was awarded their first projects starting in 2001 for Arrow Pharmaceuticals, then Mayne Pharma, Bresagen in SA, and several projects at CSL Parkville and later on Broadmeadows. TPC was now the preferred contractor in this space.
In 2009 TPC became authorised installers of Dagard Cleanroom systems, from France. There are only two qualified installers in Australia. Our first Dagard project was at Melbourne center of nanofabrication in Clayton for Cockram constructions and then, a project in SA, eventually TPC moved into the Biocontainment area starting at Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute NSW which was a large and complex PC3/QC3 project. We had several high profile projects over the next 7-8 years.
In 2012 Jake became a registered commercial builder which provided a huge leg up for both companies as it was becoming very difficult to do any works for customers directly unless it was through a registered commercial builder. As we know it is illegal to carry out building works without a building permit. in Victoria.
In 2017 TPC changed its name to Total Precision Cleanrooms Aust. It seemed fitting considering a large proportion of our projects are cleanrooms and Australia wide. Jake is Managing director of TPC and now sole director when he bought Peter out in 2018.
Jake’s focus on quality workmanship, innovative design, and attention to detail have helped TPC to establish itself as a national brand for cleanroom construction, delivering consistent, high-quality projects within the pharmaceutical, biocontainment, and research areas.
Jake has been involved in an extensive range of projects from concept through to completion. Jake and his team have a sound knowledge of the design and construction of cleanrooms and offer builders, architects, and consultants build-ability, compliance, and technical support throughout the project We offer and wide range of knowledge in preliminary and detailed design, FM global, insurance requirements, BCA compliance, budgeting, through to construction and customer ongoing support.
